Perfectionism is a Dream Killing Strategy

As humans, we are endowed with several creative abilities, one of which is the ability to generate invaluable ideas, visions and dreams. This ability sets us apart for high performance and achievement which often culminates into celebration of success. Every human being has the capacity to dream and take the necessary action steps to bring such dreams into reality. This is what gives birth to inventions for new businesses and technologies. Despite this huge endowment, many people take their ideas and dreams to their grave yards because of their desires to have them created in total perfection.

Perfection is the state of being flawless; a condition of 100% accuracy without the need for having any further improvement. In reality, perfection does more harm to the progress of people than it sounds as blessing. The objective of any good vision, goal or dream is to create what was not already existing, develop or improve something what is in existence. It is of absolute necessity that ideas and dreams are responded to with urgent inspiration to bring them to live otherwise, they stand the chance of being abandoned.

There is not a time you would build up your business to the extent that it would become perfect. If there was a state of perfection in business or career, Microsoft and Apple would have attained it. Perfection leads to procrastination and the secret to overcoming procrastination is to begin with the smallest part of the major action necessary to fulfill your goal. Do not be afraid of making a mistake. Many people are stuck in perfection because they are afraid of making mistakes; but it is impossible to start and grow a business or career without making and learning from mistakes. So, don't let the fear of mistakes stop your dream.

Surround yourself with the people that are succeeding in those areas. Make applications to your prospective employers and prepare for job interviews well in advance. Research the industry of your interest and acquaint yourself with current trends in them. Deep your feet in the water, but prepare in mind that something would go wrong. By doing that, you don’t set false expectations for yourself.
